Motherboard and CPU: Can I fix a dead motherboard?

The DFI LanParty DK 790FX-B M2RSH motherboard of my computer stopped working overnight. It turns on, but the promt stops at error 88, which means, according to its manual, a corrupted CMOS data or a defective motherboard ("NB chip may be defective". I guess it refers to the northbridge chip).

So, I loaded the default values stored in the ROM BIOS as the manual explains (moving the jumper), but I get the same error. Then, I brought it to technical service and the technician said me, after a couple of days, that motherdboard is dead (I guess he tried out every part) and I need a new one (mine has "only" three years). So, here is the question: ¿can I fix a dead motherboard? ¿Recover the ROM BIOS in some way? ¿Or the best I can do is send it to recycle.

Motherboard and CPU: A question about PCIe lanes and how they are divided

Most intel desktop processors have 16 PCIe lanes, which is just enough for an x16 GPU. Obviously, you can't use the GPU without an OS to run on, thus you will need an SSD. So now you have an x4 NVMe SSD. Because the SSD needs to have 4 lanes to operate, does the GPU go down to x8 because it doesn't have enough lanes to operate at x16?

I have noticed that many of intel's desktop chipsets for Sky and KabyLake have anywhere from 6-24 "Max # of PCI Express Lanes" when all of the processors have only 16 lanes. If you put a 16 lane i7-7700 on a Z270 motherboard with a "Max # of PCI Express Lanes" of 24, does the motherboard have its own PCIe lanes that stack on top of the processor's?

@danj I was hoping you could explain this, please.

Asus Motherboard: Knocked off resistors on ASUS Maximus Hero VII

Was unscrewing the M.2 riser on this motherboard and knocked off a few small resistors. Does anyone know what they are? Here is the image of the resistors' locations and a schematic someone made online in BoardViewer. Here is the link to the schematics. (It is in a .fz file) The schematics list some of the necessary resistors but not others. To me, they look all to be the same. How do I properly read the schematic to get new ones and confirm?

EDIT (8/20/24): As of today, I have soldered the correct resistor on. The computer will now properly boot. Originally it would turn on but then show the code "00" (unused) on the mobo q-code without POST-ing or showing on image. Soldering on the new resistor fixed that issue. Something I did not see is my mobo says "Rev. 1.01" without the 'A.' That did not seem to affect the needed resistors despite the board view file saying "Rev. 1.01A."
