Western Digital My Passport: Restoration of module 190 on a western digital hard drive

A few days ago I dropped a Western Digital My Passport 5TB hard drive.

I sent it to the company that is supposed to recover the data and they said that its 190 module was destroyed.

They asked for thousands of dollars to recover the information and that's an amount I can't spend.

I wanted to understand if I could buy a hard drive of the exact same type and replace this module?

In addition, is there a way to understand exactly what this module is? Where is the documentation of such things? I couldn't find it on google

Thanks in advance.

Western Digital My Passport: My Passport lost recognition with 2013 MacBook Air?

My wife has a 2013 Macbook Air. She just bought a newer Macbook and a new WD 1 TB My Passport external hard drive, WDBYVG0010BBK-WESN, so she could back up all her information and transfer it to the new laptop.

When she first plugged it in to her older Mac, it was recognized to be installed. But then it prompted her and asked what she wanted to back her computer up to...she intended to select the Passport but instead it somehow erased it and it no longer appears on her laptop. She has tried restarting the computer, uninstalling it, etc. but nothing is working. We hooked it up to my older Windows 7 laptop which seems to at least recognize it so not sure what's going on.

Any help would be appreciated!

Whether the hard drive is plugged in or not, the E:Drive has a blue question mark and does not open in a new window. This is where I usually access the hard drive.
Western Digital My Passport: Can I format my Hard-drive to another format with data pre-existing?

I have a 2TB WD Mypassport drive which is currently formatted in Microsoft NTFS and filled upto 1.5TB. I wanted to ask if it is possible to format the remaining 500 GB(Via partition) in APFS format(Apple’s format)?
If it’s a no, I won’t bother.
But If it is a yes, My next question is that , Is it possible to format the complete drive in APFS, If i make a partition of 500GB (APFS, out of 2TB) and move some data from the NTFS part(1.5TB) until the APFS partition is full? and then format the empty part again into APFS and keep on repeating my hard drive is completely in APFS format?
I am doing this because I don’t have any option to store/backup the data in any another Drive/Cloud service… I want to try all the free options first.

Western Digital My Passport: please help me get my WD Hard Drive fixed!

I have a custom built WD 50mb External HD that I bought realistically 6-8 years ago. When I plug it into my Macbooks USB Port I make a sound sorta like the sound an Aboriginal Toaster makes when it’s finished toasting a fresh slice of Banik.

Then once the HD’s connected, the light turns on the HD device and the HD makes 5 buzzing/beeping sounds but won’t show up in my Finder or Disk Utility. I have followed a 12 step program to help me cope with my drinking problem along with multiple steps from youtube tutorials and nothing seems to work. I really love drinking but it will never be the same until I retrieve the files from my 50mb External HD.

Please note that I only have 2 files on my HD that use about 20.2 mb of space but both files are my favourite songs that I like listening to while I drink myself into a raging black out during lunch time.

If any of you have ever heard the song Say My Name by Destiny’s Child & Lean Back by Fat Joe & Lil Jon..

That should explain enough about what I am going thru so I beg you all, please help me get my WD Hard Drive fixed!

Product # WD8P6A0020BBK-OA

Sincerely,
