Western Digital My Passport: Am I Replacing my current My Passport Ultra Correctly?

i need help verifying a replacement for my WD My Passport Ultra drive - S/N WXL1EB58EDV. I think it was a 1 tb drive. My current drive is about 2-3 year sold and is FULL (space ussue). I have been unsuccessful in doing any deletion of content to free up space. This will be my third drive to purchase. I just submitted a purchase from Best Buy of a new WD 2 TB My Passport External USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive with Encryption (latest model). I want to know if I am buying the correct replacement ext hard drive? if I will have the same USB-A connection to my old M/Soft computer? If I will have to reload software for the new replacement drive.

Western Digital My Passport: Right clicking only provides properties, troubleshoot, remove, shortcu

I recently got a Western Digital my passport x 2tb (have part# lot# etc If needed) i hooked it to my usb 3.0 on my PC motherboard (ASRock b550 phantom gaming mobo). When connected I can only locate it inside devices and printers and it only allows me to right click and find properties troubleshoot remove device and create shortcut. I used diskpart on the CMD and it says it has 1862GB dyn and gpt are not checked. However it wont let me format or locate it under MY PC only thing that shows is my original 1tb HDD ? I have tried everything in the disk part (that I understand) without doing something that might ruin it. I know it works as I just had it hooked to my xbox and it downloaded a game no problem i hooked it to my pc and cleaned it with disk part and still nothing.

Western Digital My Passport: USB Port jarred / How can I open the case?

I am having trouble finding the exact model I'm using online, but my passport recently fell from my bed while attached, and this caused the usb port in the back to... screw up. Now, the computer will not detect it when plugged in. The plug doesn't seem to be able to go in all the way anymore, or sit securely in. It wobbles and slips out very easily.

Would this be expensive if I took it to a computer shop for repair?

Can I repair it myself?

How can I open my passport, so that I might try to repair the dock? If I need to specify exactly which passport I'm using, how can I ID that model specifically to you guys?

ANY help at all would be vastly appreciated. My life is on this thing. I can't just lose it. I'm confident the problem is merely with the dock and that the drive itself is fine. The lights come on as normal when I plug it in.

Western Digital My Passport: Portable drives do not show up after using Sabrent USB Hub

I bought Sabrent USB Hub. I had it connected to my husband's laptop, with all 4 2TB portable drives hooked up to it. It worked great. But when I tried to disconnect it, it was only showing #1. The other three were greyed out. So, I finished doing my work, so nothing was being used. I disconnected it, but it wouldn't allow. I pushed blue power button on each usb connection, and shut things down. But now, I plugged in the sabrent to my desktop and it shut down my computer. Just hard shut down. I unplugged it from the usb to the desktop. And now it wont show any of the drives at all. I plug them in, and they arent in device manager, nothing. I even installed Easeus and it doesnt see any of them either. In device manager, nothing has an exclamation point. But at the same time, none of the drive show up. All 3 have lights on them. But they don't do a thing. No clicking. Only the 4th one still works. I have over 6TB worth of stuff on these.........UGH!!!!!!!

Western Digital My Passport: WD my passport doesn't work. I/O error?

Hi,

I have a WD My Passport 1 TB. It was working fine. It was connected to USB3 port in the PC when a friend reset the machine because, according to him, the OS was blocked. After that the My Passport don't work. The OS load it after long time loading in disk managment console of windows. I don't explore the files because the system tell that I have to format the disk, and when I proceed to format the tool warning me about error.

I was try some recovery and repair hdd tools, but even the best of them tell me, after long time, that the disk have I/O error. I'll try update the firmware too, but I'm behind a proxy and the utility that brings wd's support site don't work behind proxy. I appreciate any idea that can help me. I lost pretty info on my disk.

Thanks in advance.
