Its off-road dominance was driven by a leaf-sprung, body-on-frame design and a manual two-speed transfer case. However, a 1988 Consumer Reports "rollover" rating caused sales to plummet from 8,000 units per month to just 2,000, eventually leading to its 1995 U.S. market exit. The Suzuki SJ410 featured a 1.0-liter (970cc) four-cylinder engine, known internally as the F10A. This overhead-cam (OHC) engine was a smaller, eight-valve predecessor to the 1.3-liter unit found in the more common Suzuki Samurai (SJ413) models seen in the United States. In its standard factory configuration, the F10A produced approximately 45 horsepower and 55 lb-ft of torque.
