iPhone SE 2022 Repair

The iPhone SE (2022) was announced on March 8th, 2022 and released on March 18th, alongside the 5th generation iPad Air. Being the affordable product line of the iPhone family, the newest iteration of the SE features many ostensible downgrades compared to the main line—like its lack of Face ID and regressed camera—while maintaining some of Apple’s top-of-the-line processing, namely the A15 Bionic chip.

Compared to its previous model, the iPhone SE (2020), the newest SE has a better battery (2018 mAh) along with one extra gigabyte of RAM (4 GB). The camera, while not physically improved, is bolstered by Smart HDR 4, which fine-tunes photos in post.

The iPhone SE starts at $429 for the 64 GB base model and is available in Midnight, Starlight, and (Product)Red colors.

You can identify the third generation of the iPhone SE (2022) by finding one of the model numbers either on the inner edge of the SIM card tray or within the phone's Settings app:

You can find the model number through the phone's UI by going to the Settings app and navigating to General > About. Tap on the number listed in the Model Number section and it should change to a format that looks like the numbers above.

The iPhone SE 2022 features a 4.7 in (diagonal) glass screen with curved edges, a black bezel, and a home button. The back cover is glass and the edge frame is made from curved aluminum which can be colored grey, silver, or red.

Volume controls can be found on the left edge while the power button and SIM card tray are situated on the right. A single camera "bump" protrudes slightly from the back case.

The iPhone SE 2022 can be differentiated from the iPhone 8 by its back cover. The iPhone SE 2022 (as well as the SE 2020) has a centered Apple logo and lacks the word "iPhone", while the iPhone 8's logo is higher up on the back cover with the word "iPhone" printed lower on the cover.

The iPhone SE 2022 (3nd Gen) and iPhone SE 2020 (2rd Gen) can only be differentiated by the model number printed on the inside of the SIM card slot or contained within the Settings app.
