HP iPAQ H3850 Battery Replacement

What you need

    • Place the device on a flat surface with the screen facing down.

    • Use a screwdriver to remove four screws from the back cover of the device.

    • Push and release the SD card on edge of the device.

    • Slide the SD card out.

    • Insert the end of a spudger between the front and back cover and slide it around the edge to release the clips holding them together.

    • Pry them two halves but don't pull them apart as it is still connected by a cable.

    • Place a spudger or opening tool under the connector's edge and pry straight up to disconnect the yellow cable from the motherboard.

    • Make sure to pry under the edge of the connector itself, and not under the socket on the board. Otherwise, you risk permanently damaging the socket.

    • Work carefully: don't pry on or accidentally scrape any small, surface mounted components on the board.

    • To reconnect, align the connector carefully over its socket and press down with your fingertip—first on one of the short sides, then the other—until it clicks into place. Don't try to force the connector into place. If you're having trouble, reposition it and try again.

    • Using an iOpener to heat the battery cover and loosen the adhesive holding the battery to the chassis.

    • The glue holding in battery should now be loosened.

    • Use plastic opening tool to remove battery from the back cover.

    • Once the old battery is removed, scrape off the old adhesive from the device backing with the prying tool.

    • To attach the new battery, apply an adhesive to each corner of the backing where the battery sits and place the device into the backing.

    • Allow the adhesive to set for half an hour.

Conclusion

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order. Take your e-waste to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.
