Kemove 98 SE Keyboard Keycap and Switch Replacement

Introduction

Switching the keycaps and key switches on your Kemove K98 SE is one of the easiest and most effective ways to customize the appearance, feel, and typing experience of your keyboard. Whether you are applying a new keycap set, cleaning underneath the keys, or replacing broken switches, the process is easy and safe if done carefully.

All you need is a keycap puller, a switch puller, and a little patience to remove each keycap and each switch without damaging the sockets or the board.

Before you begin, make sure the keyboard is disconnected from your computer or the charging adapter.

What you need

    • Unplug your keyboard from power outlet and/or your computer.

    • Line up your key cap puller to the key you want to replace and press down lightly till it doesn't move.

    • Gently pull the key from the board.

    • Use a small brush to clean the area.

    • Align the switch puller vertically around the switch.

    • Squeeze the switch puller gently and pull the switch out.

    • Align the new switch so its plugs match the corresponding plugs on the board.

    • Gently push it down.

    • Line up the new keycap with the switch.

    • Press it down gently till it reaches the bottom.

    • If it doesn't go down, then rotate the key cap till it goes down fully. It should match the other key's height.

    • Repeat the steps 2-5 for any other keys you want to replace.

    • Spray the microfiber cloth a few times with isopropyl alcohol. If you use a bottle of isopropyl alcohol, put 7-8 drops on the microfiber cloth and gently clean the area

    • Gently wipe your keyboard with the cloth to clean the keyboard.

    • After drying for 5-10 minutes, you can connect your keyboard to computer/power and use it.

    • Use the Kemove app to change the backlight color on your new keycap.
