Retroid Pocket Flip Hinge Is Loose or Not Holding Position
When opening or using the Retroid Pocket Flip, the hinge feels loose or does not hold the screen in position as expected. Follow the steps below to identify possible causes of the issue.
Normal Wear Over Time
Opening and closing the device many times can slowly wear down the hinge. As this happens, the hinge may feel looser than it did when the device was new. This type of wear happens gradually and is common with moving parts. Try to open and close the device gently to slow down further wear.
Improper Opening or Closing
Opening or closing the device from one side or with one hand can put extra stress on the hinge. This can cause the hinge to loosen over time. To prevent this, use both hands and open or close the device slowly, without forcing the hinge.
Loose Screws Inside the Hinge
In some cases, the hinge itself may still be in good condition, but the screws that hold the hinge in place can loosen over time. When this happens, the screen may feel wobbly or may not stay in position properly. If the looseness developed gradually and there is no visible damage, tightening the screws may help make the hinge feel stable again. This involves opening the device, so it should only be attempted if you are comfortable working with internal components. Otherwise, consider having the device repaired by a professional.
Debris or Dust in the Hinge Area
Dust or small particles can build up around the hinge and make it harder for the hinge to move smoothly. Check the hinge area for visible dust or dirt and gently clean it using compressed air. Do not insert tools or liquids into the hinge.
