Repair or source a UPS transformer?

I have a SUA1500RMI2U, with a cooked transformer.

Replacement is difficult as the exact model of the transformer seems hard to find, due to age. Replacements I do find also seem fairly expensive.

I’ve heard of transformers with inline fuses, and I’m hoping I can repair this one.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to start checking if there’s an easy fix or better yet, if there’s a drop in equivalent replacement?

Is there any manufacturer information on the transformer itself? I'm wondering, if we could find the specs for it, about locating an equivalent.

Have you tried contacting APC to get the schematics and board view drawings to help figure things out.

Not yet, as I’m expecting the response to be “no, that’s not been sold for x years. Please buy a new $2k unit.”

@jeremyvirgo if you have not "cracked" it open yet, how do you know it's your transformer :-) Anyhow, here is the schematic for your APC Smart UPS 1500va Usb SUA1500RMI2U. If it is indeed the transformer then it is most likely the 430-0029 which is a 120/240V-24/48V Class 130(B) transformer
