Cameras not working after screen replacement

I had to replace my phone screen at a mall repair kiosk today after I dropped it. Everything seems normal except for the notification shown in the picture and the camera. It shows as a black screen and is completely nonfunctional. The strange thing is that if I open the camera on other apps it works fine on the selfie camera! When I try to switch to the back camera it freezes up. I’ve gone through all the fixes for a black camera screen and nothing worked. It’s updated to the latest iOS, I’ve restarted it, and even reset all settings. The camera isn’t broken because it works on other apps… what could be causing this and how do I fix it? Very frustrating!

The camera should be paired to the motherboard on your phone; I'm wondering if somehow due to the screen replacement something got messed up with the pairing. Did they use a genuine Apple screen, or is it aftermarket? I assume they didn't replace the camera, right?

Anyway, assuming you are on iOS 18 or later, I'd suggest running the Repair Assistant app and see if it will pair the camera for you again. It's not always clear exactly how iOS will react to an unpaired part nowadays; sometimes it works and other times it won't.

What makes you think the motherboard has "gone bad"? What is the phone doing or not doing? Motherboard repair is generally far beyond the capability of most of us; it requires specialized equipment and expertise. If you're just looking for a guide to replacing the motherboard, you could use this one.
